Creating Recurring Revenue with Loyal Clients & Staff While on the Road

It’s one thing to build a business, and it’s a completely different thing to build a business well. Almost anyone can start a business these days (even if you’re just working for yourself), but to build a business that is sustainable, provides consistently great value and treats its people well is a real accomplishment.

Our guest today has done all of that and more with his podcast agency – which he also founded on the road while living a nomadic lifestyle.

Jeremy Enns is the founder and Storyteller In Chief at Counterweight Creative, a podcast production agency with more than thirty clients. Jeremy started his business while travelling the world so he could have a flexible source of work, and over the past three years has become incredibly well-known and respected in his niche.

Now, he’s focused on delivering high-quality content to clients and awesome work culture for his team.

Jeremy and I had a great conversation about how he started his business and why he chose to build his own company rather than work for someone else. We talk about how he got his first clients, what he did to get a steady stream of referrals and how he keeps his clients happy in the long run with a recurring revenue model.

We also talk about more of the business side of his agency, why he decided to accept and lean into his niche and what that’s done for his business since. Jeremy also shares the philosophy behind his investment into team-building and self-management tools that keep his contractors coming back and his turnover incredibly low.

Jeremy’s business is a great example of how strong the agency model can be when it’s done well – you’ll love this episode!

What You’ll Learn from this Episode:

  • How Jeremy founded his business and why he put emphasis on connecting with people very early.
  • Why he initially didn’t want to niche down and how he eventually came around.
  • How Jeremy balanced serving his clients and caring for his team while travelling basically full-time.
  • The recurring revenue model he’s used to keep his clients in-house and build a strong team.
  • What he does to create a positive company culture and invest in his contractors’ overall well-being, not just their work life.
  • His strategies and recommendations for managing a remote team and fostering connection and loyalty.

Hey there. I know what it's like to try and fail over and over again. I've been through all the mindset ups and downs, feeling like a failure and wondering why it's so hard to attract amazing clients consistently.

I finally realized, more recently that I'd like to admit, I was still hiding. I was afraid to put my work into the world in case no one wanted it. What I really wanted was for someone to say, "hey you, your stuff is great, come share it with my audience".  Finally I realized that that would never happen, not until I started first.

Putting out my content and message into the world had to begin with me. I  committed to showing up consistently and building my own meaningful relationships. The result? Much more clarity about how to gain visibility and grow my brand. And, of course, THIS PODCAST which I'm thrilled to host!
